After-School Program

Nancy Spain is the coordinator of our after-school program. The after-school program runs from 3:30-5:00 pm, with pick-up available until 5:30 pm for busy parents. The after-school program consists of 6 week sessions that include a variety of activities and a daily snack. Contact Nancy Spain for more information at: nspain@delwood.k12.ia.us.

Reading Program

Our reading program is based on a balanced literacy approach. We include guided reading, shared reading, writers' workshop, and silent reading. We use the Scholastic, Literacy Place 2000 resources in our reading program. We also use the Reading Mastery Program for our kindergarten and first grade students, to help them get a jump start on reading.

Math Program

Our math program is a hands-on approach using a variety of manipulatives to bolster math comprehension. We use the Everyday Math Program as a resource to help teach math at Delwood.
